Welcome to the Mindful Orca SLP

Orcas are known for having strong family structures. They communicate in complex ways that are unique to the culture of their own pod. As humans our communication develops in rich and varied ways that reflect our individual biology, relationships with others, and cultural history.

Mindful Orca SLP is a private practice built on awareness and respect for how differences in speech, language, and feeding can be honoured as they are in each moment while also being supported to expand possibilities for learning and making choices.

Our services seek to build greater insight, skills, supports, and internally motivated growth for all those we work with. Reach out to book a free consultation and see if we are the right fit for you.

About Me
My name is Sidney Eaden and I’ve been a practicing SLP since 2020.
Over the past six years I have worked in a multidisciplinary setting primarily supporting preschool children and babies alongside their families. I’ve also worked with school-aged children and collaborated with educators to enhance in-school supports. My work has included one-on-one intervention and assessments with children as well as consultation and workshops for parents and educators.

My services are currently being offered virtually or in-home dependent upon scheduling, location, and presenting needs. See below for my areas of specialized practice and contact information.

Specialized Areas of Practice
Pediatric Feeding
Feeding therapy is one of my most passionate areas of practice. I have worked with babies and children who have medically complex feeding difficulties. This includes some diagnosed with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) or Pediatric Feeding Disorder as well as many with non-specified food and drink intake challenges that negatively impact growth and well being.
Social Communication
I have worked one-on-one and with groups of children and parents to support their navigation of social differences at the preschool, elementary, and high school levels. I seek to build greater understanding of unspoken social behaviours, expand self-advocacy skills, and help individuals access more personally affirming sources of social connection.
Preschool Speech Sounds
& Early Language
I have provided assessment and therapy for children whose early use of and response to spoken language is developing later or differently. My skills include a balanced understanding of the analytic and gestalt language processing theories as well as how motor development impacts speech and language development. I enjoy working with children and families who use or want to try augmentative & alternative communication (AAC).
NOTE: I work with many other challenges in speech and language development including school-aged speech and language therapy, voice therapy, and more. These are simply less specialized areas of my practice at this time.
